Spring
Each spring, Chapin-area residents have the following events to look forward to in Columbia.
- March: Participate in the Run Hard Columbia Marathon, or cheer on the runners as they meander through the city for 26 miles! Meanwhile, Soda City Suds Week celebrates craft beer in Columbia and around the state of South Carolina.
- April: Every spring, galleries open their doors later and bring art to the streets of Columbia during Artista Vista. April also features the annual Columbia International Festival and the Love, Peace & Hip-Hop Festival.
- May: Come May, attend the Rosewood Crawfish Festival, which boasts 10,000 pounds of crawfish and a day of live music.
Summer
The summer months bring with them even more festivals and food-related events in Columbia, SC.
- June: A June highlight again has to do with seafood. The Columbia Shrimp and Grits Fest gives residents the opportunity to determine who serves up the best dish.
- July: With the 4th of July, there are many things to do in the Columbia area. Take in the Lake Murrary Fireworks Celebration, and don’t forget about the Lexington County Peach Festival.
- August: Close out summer with events in Columbia, SC like the Main Street Latin Festival.
Fall
There’s even more to do in the Columbia area by the time fall rolls around.
- September: Enjoy plenty of fried okra at the Irmo Okra Strut, as well as a variety of artisans, dancers, storytellers, and musicians at Jubilee: Festival of Black History and Culture.
- October: Moving on to October, head to Congaree Swamp Fest near Congaree National Park with the entire family. And we can’t forget the South Carolina State Fair!
- November: Wrap up your fall and gear up for winter with events such as a Devine Night Out to get a kickstart on holiday shopping in the Shandon neighborhood, along with the Lights Before Christmas display at the Riverbanks Zoo and Garden.
Winter
Take advantage of the following winter events and celebrations around Columbia!
- December: Some of the best artists in the South serve up a shopping buffet at Crafty Feast, while Famously Hot New Year provides a bash right in front of the State House.
- January: Restaurant Week Columbia in January provides area residents with a continuous list of restaurant deals that you, your friends, your family, and your significant other can try.
- February: Enjoy book signings, readings, writer’s workshops, and more at the Deckle Edge Literary Festival.
