The Ford F-150 XL and Ford F-150 XLT run on the same standard engine: a 3.3L Ti-VCT rated at 290 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque. Rear-wheel drive is also standard for both models, with upgrade options to 4-wheel drive. These two F-150s can also be had with a 2.7L EcoBoost® V6 engine, a 3.5L EcoBoost® V6 engine, or a 5.0L Ti-VCT V8 engine. Below are a few specs to make note of:

  • The best possible horsepower comes from the 5.0L Ti-VCT V8 engine at 395 hp.
  • The maximum towing capacity of 13,200 pounds can be achieved when equipped with the 3.5L EcoBoost® V6 engine. This powertrain also generates best-in-class torque of 470 lb-ft.
  • Opt for the electronic 10-speed automatic transmission with Tow/Haul, Snow/Wet, EcoSelect, and Sport modes.

If you’re interested in a diesel truck over a gas-powered one, then keep in mind that the F-150 XLT has available the 3.0L Power Stroke® Turbo Diesel V6 engine, which tows up to 11,500 pounds and makes 250 hp and 440 lb-ft of torque.
