2025 Ford Explorer

Four trim levels cater to diverse lifestyles. Standard features on the entry-level Active model include a unique sawtooth design black mesh grille with chrome bars, 18-inch Sparkle Silver-painted aluminum wheels, and a power liftgate. The athletic-looking ST-Line has a black mesh grille insert and 20-inch Ebony machined-painted aluminum wheels, while the performance-focused ST distinguishes itself with 21-inch Magnetite-painted wheels and trim-exclusive badging. Striking 20-inch Luster Nickel-painted alloys and satin roof-rack side rails set the Platinum apart. The ST has silver-painted front skid plates, and the Platinum adds rear protection. A Panoramic Vista Roof is standard on the Platinum and optional on the other models.

The Active, ST-Line, and Platinum feature a 2.3-liter EcoBoost I-4 with 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. A more potent 3.0-liter turbocharged, direct injection EcoBoost V-6 is standard on the ST and optional on Platinum, delivering 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. Both engines are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. All models come with rear-wheel drive and intelligent four-wheel drive as an option.

The 2025 Explorer ST powered by the 3.0-liter EcoBoost engine accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.1 seconds, while models equipped with the 2.3-liter EcoBoost record a respectable 6-second sprint time. The Explorer is fitted with the Class III Trailer Tow Package, enabling it to tow up to 5,000 pounds. Sport-tuned suspension on the ST model sharpens handling response while maintaining ride comfort. Six selectable drive modes allow drivers to optimize vehicle performance for various conditions.

The Explorer's cabin is spacious, versatile, and technologically advanced. An instrument panel cluster with a 12.3-inch color LCD productivity screen and FordPass Connect with 5G Wi-Fi hotspot capability are standard across the lineup. The Active trim provides up to 85.8 cubic feet of cargo space, while other trims offer 85.3 cubic feet with both rear rows folded.

Premium finishes range from the Ultra Dark Space Gray interior with bronze stitching in the Active to Mojave Dusk leather in the Platinum and Black Onyx upholstery with striking red accent stitching in the ST and ST-Line. The Active, ST, and Platinum have second-row captain's seats, also available on the ST-Line, and seven-color ambient lighting is standard on the ST and Platinum and optional on the ST-Line.

The active comes equipped with Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+, while the other trim levels upgrade to Ford Co-Pilot Assist 2.0. Standard features in both suites include pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, the brand's Blind-Spot Information System with cross-traffic alert, and a lane-keeping system with Lane-Centering. The BlueCruise driver-assist feature — included on the Platinum and available on the ST-Line and ST — allows for hands-free driving on 97% (approximately 130,000 miles) of controlled access highways called hands-free Blue Zones across North America.
