The 2025 Escape is offered with four separate power plants, ranging from conventional internal combustion engines to a highly-efficient 2.5-liter full hybrid and a 2.5-liter plug-in hybrid that can drive for a limited range on no gas whatsoever, yet still offers all the flexibility of being able to power the motor with regular gasoline. The engines use an auto on/off feature that maintains fuel economy even in conventionally-powered Escapes.

The all-wheel drive system is plenty smart, too. In fact, the system is smart enough to shut itself off when not needed, maintaining the efficiency of front-wheel drive under most conditions and only engaging AWD when necessary. And of course, four drive modes (Eco, Sport, Normal, and Slippery) offer customizable responses from the drivetrain to match your preferred driving style.
